Our NEW Couture Options Showroom
This service is currently available for our locally based customers as it operates directly from our shop and showroom. However, if you're an online customer and you want to order any garment in a specific colour or fabric other than what's shown on our web site, you can email us with your requirements and we'll see what we can do.
At Nina Couture, we now offer a service called 'Choose Your Style, Choose Your Size, Choose Your Fabric'.
This is part of our Couture Options service, which offers you a specific choice of having any one of our current styles made in any of our current
fabrics, (subject to availability of stock).
This means you can choose virtually any colour and pattern of fabric and have it made in any of our styles of your choice.
The flexibility this provides is unique in that you, the customer, can have almost any garment made specifically to your requirements. It's ideal
if you are planning to attend a wedding or any other special occasion especially if you are trying to match up garments or add to your existing
wardrobe, or as is often the case, you have part of an outfit but need something to complete it.
Choosing The Right Style For You.
We design and make garments for sizes 10-26, so the guarantee of satisfaction from spending money wisely on any
outfit or single garment always comes from choosing clothes that compliment your own shape and size in a flattering and stylish way. They need
to fit so that they are comfortable and they need to be flexible with expansion room so that if your weight fluctuates, they still fit without
being restrictive. Plus they need to cover your heavier angles and realign the balance of the bodyshape ie, if you have short upper body, longer
lower body or vice versa.
Often people buy an outfit that looks perfect in shop light but when we try it on at home, we realise it looks wrong. This is because the shadow
effect of daylight shows up the heavier angles in the mirror so if you chose on impulse without thinking through the science of selecting the
right look for your vertical and horizontal body shape, it's easy to soon feel unhappy with your purchase.
We all have a horizontal and vertical bodyshape and it's by understanding these measurements that we can work out the correct style for each
individual customer. In fact the basis of everything we design is based on these two calculations.
Styling Sessions.
I myself, Nadine, the designer, stylist and owner of Nina Couture, am in the shop most Fridays to help customers select the best style for
their size and shape before we then go on to choosing the right fabric and colour. This is always the best way to plan buying any outfit.
You can either call into the shop for a brief chat about your requirements or you can book a styling appointment, where we will
measure you properly, create a personal profile and explain your exact vertical and horizontal bodyshape as well as show you a range of
options and styles that would work well for you.
Flexible Fitting Options.
Perhaps one of the best things about our now highly popular Couture Options service is that you can have your garment made longer or
shorter. You can also have the sleeves made longer or shorter and you can choose a different style of neckline.
If you carry weight around your midriff or hips, we can cut the pattern so that it's A line to give you more coverage and minimize those
areas of the body.
Please note - we do not offer a made to measure service, but because we design and manufacture our own labels in our own workroom, we can
alter the cutting line of the patterns while shortening or lengthening hemlines and sleeves is no problem at all. We make no extra charge
for this service however please note that any garments specifically made are non refundable unless they are faulty.
Flexible Fitting versus Structured Garments.
Please note - we do not make structured clothing. The reason for this is based on our philosophy and our own experience that our
customers prefer to wear clothes that are comfortable, non restrictive and flexible in their fit.
We therefore mostly produce garments that are made from fabrics that have some stretch quality or that are flatteringly cut to be
looser fitting. This means if you gain a few ounces, your clothes will shrink and expand with you hence they will still be comfortable
to wear.
Many women experience fluid retention and weight fluctuation on a monthly basis, regardless of their size, so they enjoy wearing stylish
clothing that fits them all month long without feeling tight or uncomfortable.
Our flexible fitting clothing is very well priced and quick to produce plus it's designed and cut to be very flattering with finer
finishes and eye catching detail. We can keep our prices realistic, despite all our clothing being workroom made because of the
simplicity of how it's made.
Structured clothing is much more involved. It's made from fabric that is rigid (it doesn't move or is limited in how it moves) so if
you gain weight even slightly, it won't provide much expansion room. It also has a lot more structured seamwork and is more expensive
to produce especially if it's a designer brand.
It can date quickly and if it's bought for a one off occasion, it's rarely worn again. In this current economic climate, people are
looking to spend their money on clothing that is not overly expensive and that they can dress up or down to wear again and again.
Because we cater for the sizes 10-26, we know that most women over a certain size feel much more comfortable wearing flexible
fitting garments rather than opting for structured clothing.
